The Story
Autostrada takes its name from the Italian highways that connect people and places. Here on BC’s world-renowned Highway 99, Autostrada aims to be that same kind of connection—a place where travelers, locals, and friends can pause, savour, and carry the moment with them.
Housed in Britannia Village’s restored historic School House, Autostrada Oyster Bar & Grill space showcases original first-growth timber alongside warm, modern touches by Vancouver design studio Ste. Marie. The view outside, Howe Sound’s blue waters and pine-covered peaks—is matched only by the hospitality inside.
Britannia Village is itself a bold development bringing life back after decades of decline. Years of runoff left a heavy environmental toll on Howe Sound and the 10,000 hectares of forest behind it. With the penning of a landmark agreement returning the forest to the province the town has been rejuvenated reflecting a goal: to restore the land, honour its past, and create a vibrant hub that supports the future of Sea to Sky Country.
From there, the vision grew: the historic company town was lifted two meters with thousands of tonnes of clean earth, protecting it for generations to come. Original buildings were carefully moved, restored, and returned to the site, creating a sustainable, modern village that honours its history while offering restaurants, shops, services, and gathering places for the community and travelers along the Sea to Sky.
The newly opened Britannia Village is now a place to pause, refresh, and connect — complete with dining, shopping, playgrounds, and EV charging — while acknowledging its place on the unceded territory of the Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish) Nation. The renewal reflects a broader goal: to restore the land, honour its past, and create a vibrant hub that supports the future of Sea to Sky Country.
Whether you’re coming, going, or simply wandering, we invite you to make us part of your Sea to Sky story.
